Oral prophylaxis and scaling

ROOT CANAL TREATMENT

Root canal treatment(RCT)is a procedure done to save the damaged or dead pulp in the root canal of the tooth by cleaning out the diseased pulp & reshaping the canal. The canal is then filled with a rubber-like substance called gutta percha or other similar material to prevent recontamination of the tooth. Depending on the condition of the tooth and the extent of the infection

RESTORATIONS

Dental restoration or dental filling is a dental restorative material used to restore the function, integrity and morphology of missing tooth structure. The structural loss typically results from caries or external trauma.

CROWNS

Crowns are made to match the color of your natural teeth, and besides strengthening an impaired tooth, these can be used to improve your teeth’s appearance, shape or alignment. Dental crowns can be fashioned from stainless steel, ceramic, acrylic and metal alloys. Unlike removable devices such as dentures, crowns are cemented onto existing teeth or implants, and can only be removed by your dentist.

DENTURES

Dentures are removable replacement for missing teeth,gums and bone that are caused due to tooth loss.
A partial removable denture may replace a single tooth or multiple teeth.  Complete dentures are replacements for all the teeth in one or both jaws and are normally held in place by the saliva and the close adaptation of the denture base to the tissue. SURGICAL EXTRACTION

A surgical extraction involves the removal of teeth that cannot be easily accessed because they have not fully erupted or they have broken under the gums.

Wisdom teeth are the third and final set of molars found at the very back of the mouth. Most people get them during their late teens or early twenties. They are a valuable asset when they grow healthy and properly positioned but they may require removal when they get misaligned or impacted.

When misaligned, wisdom teeth can grow inwards, sideways and at times position themselves horizontally. This eventually crowds and damages the adjacent teeth, the jaw and to some extent, the nerves.

TRAUMA CARE

  • For chipped or fractured teeth, a tooth-coloured filling may be recommended to replace the lost part of the tooth. If a significant part of the crown has been lost, an artificial crown or cap may be offered instead.
  • If the pulp is exposed, a root canal may be needed.
  • Injuries to the back teeth, including fractured cusps, may require a root canal and full coverage crown.
  • More serious injuries such as split teeth may require the tooth to be removed completely.

MAJOR ORAL & RECONSTRUCTIVE JAW SURGERIES ORTHOGNATHIC SURGERY

The maxilla and/or mandible will be surgically re-aligned. This is done in a hospital setting and may require a hospital stay of one or two nights followed by a recovery period at the home of two to four weeks.
